Happy Birthday to an Upper West Side landmark.
Our building - built in 1922 - is 100 years old! To celebrate, we have put together this website to share the history of the building, the people who have lived here, and we are throwing a party to celebrate with neighbors and friends.
Check out coverage of our Centennial in the media! |
A party to celebrate a milestone.
To celebrate the 100th Birthday of The Clayton, we transformed the lobby into a roaring 1920's themed bash!
There was live music, food, drinks served, and fun for everyone.

A building that changed the architecture of New York City.
There is more to the history of The Clayton than the story of the building itself.
From the land that the building occupies, to the neighborhood that has evolved here, this part of Manhattan island has evolved over the centuries.
And for a young and little-known architect named Rosario Candela, the opportunity for his first solo commission - and the tallest residential building on New York's Upper West Side - would launch his career, begin a long-standing partnership with the developers who supported him, and shape the design of New York City apartments for generations.

In addition to the famous residents, there have also been some infamous ones as well - with plenty of drama and intrigue to their stories.
And throughout the Clayton's 100 years, the residents and building have been supported by the building staff who not only take care of the historic building, but are an integral part of The Clayton family.
